The Michigan Music Initiative is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening, supporting, and celebrating Michigan’s vibrant and diverse music community. Our mission is simple: to unite musicians, artists, industry professionals, businesses, educators, and fans through meaningful connections, educational opportunities, professional development, and community engagement.

As the home of the annual Michigan Music Awards, we recognize outstanding talent while working year-round to foster growth, collaboration, and opportunity throughout Michigan’s music ecosystem.

Membership Process

Joining the Michigan Music Initiative is a straightforward process designed to ensure that our community consists of individuals who are actively contributing to and passionate about Michigan's music industry.

Whether you're a musician, producer, engineer, manager, promoter, venue owner, educator, media professional, or another music industry contributor, we welcome your application.

Step 1: Complete the Membership Application

To begin, complete our Membership Application Form.

The application will ask for information including:

• Your Name
• Contact Information
• Current Profession or Role in the Music Industry
• Description of Your Contributions to Michigan's Music Community

This may include your work as a performer, songwriter, producer, engineer, manager, promoter, venue owner, educator, media professional, or any role that directly supports Michigan's music ecosystem.

Additional Supporting Materials

Applicants may provide links to music, websites, portfolios, social media profiles, or other materials that help demonstrate their involvement within Michigan's music community.

Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by the Michigan Music Initiative team to ensure alignment with our mission and membership criteria.

Step 2: Review & Approval

Our team carefully reviews each application to maintain a strong and engaged community of music professionals and supporters.

Applicants can expect a response within 5–7 business days. If approved, you will receive an official acceptance notification along with instructions for activating your membership.

Step 3: Payment & Membership Activation

Upon approval, you will receive an email containing a secure payment link to complete your membership registration.

Membership Rate

Annual Membership: $59 per year

Once payment is received, your membership will be activated and you'll gain immediate access to member benefits, including Michigan Music Awards voting privileges, exclusive content, networking opportunities, educational programming, and member events.

Step 4: Welcome to the Michigan Music Initiative

After your membership is activated, you'll receive a welcome email containing important member information, upcoming events, available resources, and opportunities to get involved.

Congratulations! You are now part of a growing community dedicated to supporting, strengthening, and celebrating Michigan's music industry.

Step 5: Stay Engaged

We encourage all members to actively participate in the Michigan Music Initiative community.
